ALABAMA: SUPPRESSOR HUNTING TO BE LEGAL

On Saturday, March 1st, the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) recommended to the Alabama Conservation Advisory Board (CAB) that the prohibition on suppressed firearms be lifted to allow hunters in the state to use legally possessed suppressors in the field.

The ASA has spoken with a member of the Conservation Advisory Board, who informed us that the CAB is in favor of the changes to the regulation. While the matter still needs to be finalized, the ASA can report that the prohibition on the use of suppressors in the field by hunters will be lifted in 2014.

This change marks a major step in the right direction for hunters in the state of Alabama who wish to protect their hearing while hunting game animals. Thanks to everyone who worked on the issue, including the members of the WFF who raised the issue at the CAB meeting. We are looking forward to welcoming Alabama as the 30th state in the nation to allow hunters of game animals to use suppressors in the field!
